Description

In Holy Places, artist Tom Alon reflects on her position as a foreigner in the city. The voyeuristic gaze that Amsterdam’s architecture encourages is suggested in Alon’s hasty, oil-painted works, revealing window-like glimpses to an inner world. Questioning ownership and belonging, and the sanctity of personal space in the urban environment, Alon tries to hold on to what is solely hers - her own body. Holy Places provokes the question: Who gets to see art, and at what time of day? In a city where space is scarce, this exhibition is an unapologetic gesture - scattered across the limited walls, squeezing themselves in, asking to be seen. Alon asks the visitor to linger with her in the moment of discomfort and not belonging. You are invited to preorder your copy now- some limited original works are also available Delivery time - 15 October (latest). Book design by Yuri Sato.
